Bad Hardware

over the summer my wife made me get rid of alot of stuff i pack-rat around the house, like boxes for computer hardware, and old parts. being i hate to throw some things away i like to double check to make sure something is toast before it goes in the trash. i got out the bad ram box, used a pencil eraser to clean the contacts on both sides and bing 25 out of 30 sticks fired back up and work fine after causing all different kinds of problems and failing memory test, or not having worked at all when i pulled them. didnt have as many video cards and modems, but had the same results from them and now have a nice stock pile of working hardware. the only thing i can assume caused this was durring the time most of these computers were comming in we had non-stop thunderstorms for 2 months. power surges were common place and the contacts had black marks on them the eraser cleaned right up. when i orriginally pulled the items they tested completely bad.....wanting it to be fixed being correctly so it wont come right back, plus in a hurry to move on, i just replaced the part and sent it back to the owner. just a side note, anyone else notice how high sdram cost now?

That's a "neat trick" ...the eraser thing. Simple but effective.....never thought of it before. Thanks!
