BIOS Chip updating

Can anyone point me in a direction to find someone that sells BIOS replacement chips? I have two laptops that I believe the BIOS is defective in. I understand that IF the manufacturer allows distribution of the BIOS chips they can be purchased for around $10 to $20 but I can't seem to find any sources.

Thanks in advance for any help.

hmm

many laptop manufacturers do not supply replacement BIOS ROM chips. quite unfortunatly, about the only way to get one would be to send it back to the manufacturer. (i think) what exactly is wrong with the laptops that you belive have a damaged bios?
