Building a NEW house. Any ideas on how to prepare it for technology??

Hey all, Please help us. We are building a 3800sqft. 2 story with a full basement. I want to prepare the house for the latest technology. What types of media control, home control (lighting heating etc) and networking are out there? I have searched and really do not find any useful info. So I ask for help designing the ultimate in USABLE features. Not an endless bank account, so lets say "best bang for the buck". I have even considered "tubing" the walls for future upgrades. With the wireless technology getting to be so prevelant, I am not sure the tubing is an issue. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

BTW, I know networking and such (not an expert). I am just not up on the "up and comings" in new homes.

If this post is better suited somewhere else, please advise.

are you building in a very populated area? even if you only have one or two neighbors you may have a problem with someone using your internet connection with a wireless network. i would run cat5 cable in every room like phone and cable.
about 3 weeks ago someone called me saying they never had any bandwidth from their cable connection....next door a laptop was slurpin it up.

My guess would be to talk to an home or some type of technology expert, you wouldn't wanna waste thousands of dollars on the wrong stuff.
