Buy A New Laptop Or Upgrade This One ????

Hi all, I own a Dell Inspiron 8100 that I bought 3 years ago. It was the top of the line they made at that time, I paid $3500.00. It is a 1.2 gig processor, 512 meg memory, I dont remember the rest, but it was the largest monitor with the best video card, etc etc. Basically When I ordered it from Dell I just picked all the best feaures down the line. The ONLY thing I dont like about this computer is that its HEAVY. It feels like about 10 pounds. I see the other laptops advertised on QVC etc and get very jealous because they are so light. My question is, after 3 years am I due for a new one? or should I buy more memory for this one? This computer is not wireles and sometimes I wish it was because it would be nice to have that freedome also. Also, after 3 years I notice this machine is getting slower and slower, I think there is alot of junk on here, perhaps I should do a new install of XP? If I keep this one I will need 2 more batteries, the 2 batteries I got with this one are prettty much shot. I keep this computer running almost 24 hours a day plugged into the wall, so the batteries are pretty much cooked, I get about 45 minutes with both batteries in the machine.......any advice anyone could give me?

I would say it really depends. If you play a lot of games then yes I would. If you just would like some thing smaller and have the money to spend then yes. The only thing on your system that you listed is the processor. To upgrade the RAM will not do any good unless you use photo shop or you do a lot of video edits. So it would really depend on you. Me I would keep it and do a clean install of windows. That should speed things up some
