Hi, I have recently installed PHPBB2 on a website of mine, and it works great, except for the SMTP option...

I'm trying to get the forum to allow e-mails be sent from the site. I was wondering how the creator(s) of this message board went around obtaining this? That is, did you fill in any information that uses an SMTP/POP3 account for outgoing mail?

the PHP file that contains the information to send e-mails uses an SMTP account ,and I am to fill in the information... I have a spare e-mail with SMTP, but is there a way I can have the e-mail send without using an account?

I guess I'm asking how you use your Message Board E-mailing - do you use an account, or an e-mail generator direct from the board?

No you need not create any SMTP/POP3 email account. It uses the email program on the server to send the email. Most of the hosts have them installed by default.

The path of send mail is usually "/usr/lib/sendmail".
