PC World (UK) – review of repair services

Interesting article here on how good (or not) is PC World (UK) at repairing PCs.

http://www.techspot.com/news/23508-d...r-your-pc.html

So now we know for sure what many have thought.

Typical, as far as I'm concerned, OJ!

Awful service, as far as I can remember, if you can actually attract a member of staff. Usually, you can't, becasue they are so scarce.

The last time I went there was approximately 4 years ago, for a flash drive, out of necessity, unfortunately.

The majority of their staff are uninformed and really don't know what they are 'talking about', IMO, more's the pity.

PC World really should invest more in their staff, and maybe they wouldn't have such a high staff turnover, or reputation, IMO.

Just my '2 cents worth'.

i went to pc world and inquired about a printer i ask for specs,, res,, ppm buffer size etc..the guy was boggled..also they read off the card on the pc the specs etc..there all thick ..as for the service deptment for repairs i think they have a checkpoint written down to diagnose pc problems..what could go wrong and steps to check.. IDIOTS,, the lot of them,,its the same in comets..lots of plebs reading the specs of the cards in front of the systems.

If you actually check...

None of the staff in PC World have any qualifications 2 do with Computing, Programming etc.....

One of them at my local store does'nt even have a computer and didnt know what a CD-R was...

and at that i will rest my case....

:P

Now that I do find utterly amazing.

It prompts me to wonder ... exactly how much do PCW pay their staff and on what basis? Salary only? Commissions only? A mix?

Phrases with the words "peanuts" and "monkeys" come to mind.

IMHO The only reason the company I work for stays in business is because of the people that PC world seem to P-off. Were a small company down in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK with a PC world store in our back yard (Truro, Cornwall, UK) but we get a lot (and I mean a lot) of customers that want either a new PC or our services compared to PC World which have treated them badly in the past.

!!! W00T, For Us !!! lol.

You're obviously offering better customer service than PCW. Well done you. Keep it up.
