posting a question

Hi,Im new to this whole thing and am pretty much clueless as to where I get the PC background info needed to help the "gurus" solve my problems...I noticed that whenever there is a quesion ppl tend to put an entire page worth of info about giga bytes and hardware info..where can i find all this info? is it in a file on my comp?
