OEM System Builders Law

I'm part of a small computer company. We Fix, Repair PC's, Sell New PC's, we do Networking for company's, The whole lot. The company also has a sister company that creates and designs websites that we host with our own servers In-house.

With this in mind I suggested that we could put links to all of the websites that we do onto new PC's that we build.

Theres mixed feelings with this suggestion in our offices. We're not sue if this would be "over stepping the mark".

If any one else has an opinion on the matter please post as it would be most helpful!

I can see both points of view.

IMHO, if your company custom builds the computers in question, you would be within your rights to insert your company details, logo, websites, etcetera, under the General tab of System Properties, as a lot of brand companies do, as per the following: -

Modify the Windows XP System Properties logo

Furthermore, I don't really see the harm in creating a new Bookmark folder in IE, Firefox, etcetera, detailing your various company websites. After all, the user can delete them if they want to.

I would not venture over and above that.

Once again, this is just a personal opinion.

Cheers jazz,

This is exactly what we want to do. We don't want to install third party software like stardock and change all the windows themes. All we are thinking is if this obeys the law requirements.

Cheers again for your opinion

That would definitely be overkill, IMHO.

Good luck.
