Software Licensing

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this Forum so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong area. I was wondering if anyone has any current links to software licensing in general?
When I googled it, I found specific companies or outdated material regarding this. I'm writing a paper and need to discuss currenet issues along with options a company who utilizes the software has.
