No sound

Running XP. Windows crashed this morning. Rebooted and now I have no sound from any internet program. I have sound from a CD. I've gone back through the device manager settings and sound settings. Everything is as it should be. It says that the device (Realtek AC97) is working properly. Any suggestions?
