XP SP2 beta

just read a beta release of sp2 is comming out in a few weeks, noticed the xp firewall will be turned on as a default setting, this will kill alot of networks for people that didnt know it got turned on, and also on a different site, think it was here, read that the messenger service will be disabled by default, either way tech forums will explode with problems as soon as it comes out. and this being the holliday season all the new computers, and the new users spells interesting times to come.

I agree. Those two questions alone are going to cause alot of confusion, and I'm sure we'll be seeing questions about why people can't set up a LAN with XP or "What happened to the messenger service?" Also, I'm wondering why this test is going to take over 9 months. SP2 won't be released until the third quarter of 2004.

maybe they learned their lesson with media player 9, it wasn't beta for very long, then went full release. i have tried about everything and it is still garbage. i like the taskbar controls, but they are not worth the problems caused by the program.
