chat lingo

dont you wish everyone knew the abbreviations for internet chat? would make this so much easier. after being on the net for years when i come to forums, i have to really mind my typing, alot of tech help i give is through messengers. and yes, i am a reforming chat junkie. i am just now getting better at using punctuation again. but i guess if we used chat lingo here i would b caught telling ppl to rtfm & lmao@them about it.

Here in the UK 'Text Talk' is banned on most forums.

Text Talk is used mainly by the younger 'I can't live without my cellphone brigade', these people seem to have lost the basic ability to use proper written words.

A sad example was told to me by a schoolteacher friend after marking an English Language exam ...

The pupil in question was expected to get the highest mark attainable in his final English Language exam before leaving school to start his tertiary education.

He answered all the questions in the exam but the only correct spellings were his forename and family name, all the rest of the paper was 'Text Talk'.

Needless to say he failed the exam with a U (Ungradeable?) grade, it cost him a college place.

If people want help on forums they should make the effort to write in a way that doesn't confuse people.

After all they want people to make the effort to help them in a non confusing way.

the post was more a joke than anything, i agree in forums full text is needed. it's bad enough we use bsod, psu,.........and other tech abbreviations, i have tried as much as possible to stay away from those for the simple reason so many things have the same ones now. it's hard enough to understand most of the post anyway.
