Blank DVD quality

I have been assigned the task of converting our pile of home video tapes into DVD's. I've already picked out a converter and burner, now i just need the media.

Any suggestions as to the best blank DVD+/-R brands to buy? (compatible with the most standard DVD players)

if you stick with known brands (like tdk, fuji, memorex, etc.) you should get about the same results.

Before you burn the whole library to disk check out each brand of disk on as many different DVD players as possible.

It might save a lot of heartache.

Also don't erase or throw the old VHS tapes, keep them somewhere safe until you are 200% sure the DVDs are OK.
