DVD playback problems

AMD 2200+
512 ram
nvidia Geforce mx 100/200

Please help, Iam having problems with my DVD drive when I play a film etc, the sound is patchy and the picture slow and jumpy. I should add that I have dual boot up with millenium on the other drive and that the dvd still works fine on that drive, also I have the latest drivers and patches for Power DVD. Can I uninstall the driver from device manager reboot and the driver be found automatically?
Any help would be much appreciated

cd/ dvd drives dont have drivers...they are plug and play.
they do however have what they call "firmware"...a bios of sorts for the drive..
depending on the type of dvd...it may work fine on one operating system, and not on another.
go to the web page of the make of the drive and look for known issues, and firmware updates that may fix the issues
