akago we need to check if your audio device is working in Device Manager Start > Control Panel > double click System > in System Information dialogue box > check Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers - are there any yellow exclamation marks > right click your AC/97 Audio Device > properties > click the driver tab what driver version do you have. We can check if you have the correct driver.

sound problems!

Hey guys,
Can someone help me too? I don't have any sound in my computer! I have an integrated sound system by Win XP called Legacy Audio. I run on a HP 1.00 GHz. Well that's about it, I don't know how in the world my sound disappeared all of the sudden. Thanks for the help!

We need more info, go to Start/Control Panel/ Sounds and Audio Devices on the Hardware Tab look up your Audio Device. It will give the make and type, It's not the Legacy Driver but the Audio Device we need.
Hope this helps

Hi bookworm,
Thanks for helping me out here, I really appreciate it. Anyway, when I go to the hardware tab, this is all I see in audio devices:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Video Codecs

When I click on any of them, in the bottom it says:
Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)
Location: Unknown
Device Status: This device is working properly.

I don't think this helps much, but that's all I'm able to see.
Thanks again!

go here http://www.belarc.com/free_download.htm ( Free programe ) get Belarc Advisor install and print off specs. then tell me what it says for:
System Model ( mother board )
Multimedia ( Sound card )
Main Circuit Board
Memory ( ram)
which model of HP do you have
It appears as if Win is not seeing your sound card.
Don't copy and paste Belarc it shows your Win product key and any other licence keys you have.
Hope this helps.

It's as I thought, not recognising your sound card, but I can trace it from the motherboard, I don't need your HP model. Be back soon.

Well It's the AC/97v2.1 the motherboard seems to have been an OEM for HP the driver is here http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...xxx-354a.shtml but create a RESTORE POINT before installing driver in case you need to restore. The site can be slow to download, save it to disc, easiest place is My Documents folder, no probleme finding.
Hope this helps

Thank you again,
I'm trying to download the driver, but it's always giving me a busy signal. It should download though.
Thanks again!
