Hi im having trouble with my audio i have no sound except the beeping sounds coming from my computer in compensation for the lack of sound. I also can't even move my volume bar or anything so I dont know what to do. I was wondering what sound device i was supposed to use. I remember using some soundmax program but for some reason i cant seem to find it anymore. Here is my specs:

Hi guys! I have a Sony Vaio model VGN-FJ58GP, I have just installed Windows XP Pro with SP2, after installation the first thing i did was install the chipset drivers ( intel 915 ), All the other drivers install with no problem except for audio which gives an error msg ( Cant find match Realtek HDAudio Inf File ) and modem gives a ( Failure ) message on installation. These are the original drivers from my cd and is the same drivers currently available on the sony website for download. Quite shocked that sony has no mention about this on there support section at all.....please help....

The model you have given does not appear on the Sony site, and if a Vaio then a serial number S/N is needed.

it shows that it is a Sigma Tel which Belarc shows as already installed

Can you check to see if the SigmaTEL is your default audio
Check Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Audio Tab / Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio device is selected; something like modem line 0 playback might have been substituted for the proper audio device. Information by Jim Pivonka.
