Sound Issue
I've read a page of this thread and realised this was exactly the place I needed to be.
Bookworm, I believe you will save my life by having the resolution to my problem.
Same issue as everyone else.
A "Realtek HDAudio Inf" not matching.

need help with sound and a couple other things
i am fixing a laptop for my buddie it was realy screwed up so i figured i could reformat the drive and reinstall the drivers...how ever most of the drivers realy didnt work....now im screwed...lol...i am hoping someone could help i have used driver genius,driverguide toolkit and unknown device identifyer none of them work...there are also question marks on the Multimedia audio contoller,PCI Modem and,Ethernet controller,so i have no sound and the wireless thing isnt there....i have a compaq presario v2000 laptop i think the exact model is a V2402US here is all the info i got from scanning with that Barloc

Enter The Error!
Hello there again, Bookworm!
Would like to take this time and say thank you for helping me out with this problem.
I followed your instructions, went to the sony website, and D/Led the the Chipset, Sony Shared Library and Audio drivers, installed all but the audio driver.
During the Audio driver installation, an error came up saying, "Cann't Match Realtek HDAudio Inf File !"
followed by a warning, "Realtek HDAudio driver Setup Failure !"
The first time I D/Led drivers from that site, I had the same error whilst installing the Audio driver.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you'll need more information to resolve this issue?

sound problems

If you have a Win XP cd Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.
Check Device Manager / click View / Show Hidden Devices / System / is the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture showing in the list.

Just gave the Device Manager a check. I don't have the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture in the System Devices list.
