What model do you have a I Connect 1300, or 1707 and are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in an expansion slot as shown here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

I'm not too sure about what model of I Connect I have, how would I find that out. My sound plugs are on the I/O plate. Thanks for your help so far~

Sony are so annoying, on the UK site the M$ UAA is listed as needed for HD audio to function, it will be there in one of the downloads on the Asia Pacific site, but no mention at all. Thanks for the feedback, and as they say " Alls well that ends well" happy listening

You need to check the BIOS to see if audio is enabled, you use the keyboard to navigate and select.

When comp boots press the DEL key, the Main menu opens http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...in%20creen.JPG
click to focus

use right arrow key to choose Advanced, Advanced menu opens http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0%20screen.JPG
click to focus

use down arrow key to choose Onboard Devices Configuration - press Enter http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20 screen.JPG
click to focus

HD Audio Controller should be set to [Enabled] if [Disabled] use arrow key to highlight - then press the + key to change to [Enabled]

Press the F10 key to Save & Exit the BIOS

The comp will complete to boot.

Then install the audio driver again

Hey guys, im having much the same problem as I imagine a lot of people do. I just reinstalled windows and now have no sound.

I went to the compaq site and downloaded the relevant sound drivers, but everytime I try to install them to my computer I get this message:

Failed to load dll:adminchk

I even downloaded the dll:adminchk seperately to see if that would help, but it didnt. I'm lost and really, REALLY would like to get sound back on my computer. Does anybody know what I can do? Here are my Belarc stats:
