Got a reply from MPC and a workaround the problem

Sorry for your inconvenience. MPC has now taken over Gateway pro. We are currently working on the website. The Serial number portion of the gateway support site is not functioning at this time. Their is a work around. If you go to http://www.gateway.com/ and enter your S/N into the search field. The site will come up with your information on your pc.

Tested and it works

Thankyou for your time

I suspect you need the chipset drivers, use this tool from SiS it will list your chipset drivers and links to them http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

Go back to MSI and install the Via 4 in 1 driver then restart your comp, then install audio again.

Well, I tried that...then I once again reinstalled the driver...still got nothing. Then I decided to try something drastic and unstall all my Audio Drivers in Safe Mode. What I discovered was that either some of those drivers don't get uninstalled or they're there, and disappear. I'm not sure how best to explain it except by these screenshots I took of my Device Manager.

On the Left is my Device Manager on Startup (Normal Boot, not Safe Mode)

On the Right is my Device Manager a few minutes later.

http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7...driversxa5.jpg

If someone could explain to me what's wrong (I've heard in other forums that something might be wrong with the Microsoft Kernel Driver). I've got a case of disappearing Drivers here...

Should I just reinstall MS Service Pack 2 and be done with it? Or should I just reinstall Windows again??

Just a few points
1 Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.

check these out

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot

Audio Issue (Take 2: Different Battle Ground!)

Hello there Bookworm, you won't remember me, but you helped me out with an audio issue referring to my laptop.

Was very grateful for you assistance, and it seems now I must recall on them again.

This time I have an issue with my PC, again with the audio.

The actual issue is that the right side of the audio (when set on stereo) cuts out every now and then, having tried all the jackinputs on the front and back panels of the computer itself, doesn't seem to resolve the issue.

The Belarc Results are as follows:

Yes, I have the S.E.M Icon in the Control Panel, and the program looks exactly the same as in the image you posted.

I take it that I may have to play with the settings there to configure to audio properly?
