The ethernet driver will be in the Nvidia chipset driver, it's here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.21_whql.html

but watch it has a habit of installing the nvidia audio driver, you may need to install the Realtek audio driver again,
Read the Installation notes, it advises to turn off antivirus, so you will need to download and disconnect from the Internet, I had to when I updated mine

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Can you look in Device Manager to see what network devices you have installed, check these, click image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20manager.JPG

Check Control Panel / Network Connections to see if they are connected

Sometimes I really hate HP

These drivers are not for you model,it's the m7580n, but the same board and chipset specs as yours, and XP drivers are listed, you will find under Original Driver the Nvidia Lan driver
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s... 9598&lang=en

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Exclamation Sound Problem in AsRock P4V88+'s Onboard Sound Card

Hi all,
I also have sound card / driver issue. My motherboard is Asrock P4V88+ with on-board (built in) sound card. The problem is, I have downloaded the latest drivers from AsRock's website (i.e. http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P4V88+ ) and the audio driver available to download there is C-Media audio driver ver:UDA046_build02.

Now after installing the driver setup, I do see the volume control icon (the mini speaker icon) in my system tray. But when I try to play a song (for eXample in Media Player 11), it says that the Sound Device is not installed or either used by other application.

When I restart, the sound icon from system tray dis-appears and in Device manager, the C-Media Audio Controller device has a yellow ! mark with it which says device is not working properly.

I've also downloaded the same sound card driver package from another web-site (i.e. http://download.driverscollection.co...ia_XP_2K_ME_98[UDA046_build02].zip ) and it seems this new driver package is same as the one I downloaded from AsRock's website.

I haven't tried this newly downloaded driver yet (but tonight I will and let you guys know the results).

Have you guys seen same problem coming from same Motherboard / sound card? Or can you please tell me what am I missing?

Thank you...

Install the chipset driver the Via 4 in 1 then restart your comp, then try audio again
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P4V88%2b

try installing the driver this way

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

try installing the driver this way

Thank you for replying.

When I posted my problem here, I did read this whole thread to find what I was missing but I couldn't solve my problem so I posted it here. Also before posting, I did try Via 4in1 setup and everthing you mentioned above. But still no luck. I also tried the other driver package (downloaded from 3rd Party site) but it didn't help either.

I was hoping to know whether you had seen this problem in past (specially with P4V88+ and / or Via Chipset etc.)? I just want to make sure it is not a hard-ware problem. I've searched for the solution on net for a-few days (before I came here) and it appears that many people were facing the same problem so I thought it shouldn't be a hard-ware issue. The Error code I get (when the driver is installed successfuly) is 10 with a description that This device couldn't be activated or something like it. It looks like that this problem has something to do with all VIA or C-Media AC'97 thing (as I've seen other people facing the same thing on other forums).

Anyway, I will keep trying but for now my Uncle had a spare Creative sound card which he has given to me. And the best part is, a Creative Sound Card was a spare thing for my Uncle. Thanks God he doesn't know hardware that much. Otherwise I would still be missing my Sound lolz. Ignorance is blessing I guess . That is, His Ignorance, My Blessing lolz .

If I get any solution, I'll update it here for future reference.

Thanks once again.

NO Sound

I have a HP vs17 monitor, which is having a problem with sound. approximately 9 months ago I began having a problem adjusting the sound coming from the speakers. After that I began to experience a hissing static sound coming from the speakers .
shortly thereafter i began to experience sound problems, sound then no sound. After not having sound for 2 months the sound came back on for
a few minutes. i thought it was my computer.

It is not. The sound came back on yesterday for 20 seconds then went out.
I tapped the side of the monitor and it came back on .. I also noticed that the the monitor on/off power button does not work...

After looking around on the internet I have noticed there are other people who have had similar problems... Did HP design a defective product ?
