It is not. The sound came back on yesterday for 20 seconds then went out.
I tapped the side of the monitor and it came back on .. I also noticed that the the monitor on/off power button does not work...

After looking around on the internet I have noticed there are other people who have had similar problems... Did HP design a defective product ?

Have you checked the cables, are they secure or look worn.

Onboard sound card?

Hi, I posted on this site like a year ago and got some pretty good advice about a sound issue so I thought i'd come here first for advice on a sound card issue . For awhile now I've had this loud crackling noise that comes from my speakers and my headphones.... I've tried everything to try and fix it. I've tried different slots for my sound card, different drivers, unintalling and reinstalling, I've taken things out of my computer so my sound card isn't close to anything (I placed it in the bottom pci slot so there wouldn't be any interference and its not next to anything else). So I pretty much give up if no one has a solution to this lol.

I hear its a conflict with my mobo and sound card and if that's the case I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on going back to my original onboard sound so I dont have to listen to this crackling anymore .
I tried uninstalling all of the creative and SB Audigy software and just installing my mobo sound drivers but it gave me this message (Driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again.) Here is the link to my drivers for my onboard http://support.asus.com.tw/download/download.aspx?modelname=K8V%20SE%20Deluxe&SLanguag e=en-us

There is probably a simple solution to my problem but i'm a total noob when it comes to computers. Do I just have to re-enable my onboard sound card? And if so... how do I go about doing that? Thank you to whomever reads this long post and gives me any advice at all.... lol .

worked like a charm

Thanks for the advice I went back to my onboard sound card and my sound is fixed .

The main reason I installed the sound blaster audigy zs was so that I could use a microphone... my onboard didn't really work with a mic for some reason but I got it working kinda... its all good.

Again thx for the advice.

Hi, I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my Toshiba Satellite A75 laptop.
The problem is that there is no sound, when I go to the sound icon it says no audio output device installed. Then when I check in the device manager, multimedia audio controller appears in the other drivers section with a yellow triangle next to it.

I have tried uninstalling the driver, repairing and updating it, but nothing works. I downloaded the realtek Ac97 audio and that did not work either. Finally when windows locates a new driver and I press for it to update it, it takes forever and then says it cannot find it.

Please can somebody help me?

I have tried uninstalling the driver, repairing and updating it, but nothing works. I downloaded the realtek Ac97 audio and that did not work either. Finally when windows locates a new driver and I press for it to update it, it takes forever and then says it cannot find it.

Please can somebody help me?

you will need the location of the realtek audio drivers which you downloaded, did you get the Vista version from here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
download the driver, unzip to desktop, then install as below

Now go to Vista Device manager, right click on the sound card and "Update Drivers". In the drivers update wizard select "Search My computer for drivers" then Browse to the directory containing the extracted drivers Be sure to check the "SEARCH SUBDIRECTORIES checkbox! Vista should then search these drivers and load the appropriate Vista drivers.

see if realtek audio is available to select

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot
