Unhappy USB Detection

I used to be able to plug my Mp3 into my computer and it would be detected. Now everytime I plug it in the USB never detects it. I installed the software that came with the Mp3 Player. I have tried using other USB ports located around my computer but none seem to detect my Mp3 player. I know all the ports work since my mouse is detected when its plugged in.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great.

You don't say which OS you are using (we can't assume that everyone uses XP). If it's not XP it could be a driver issue. The mouse works cos windows uses it's own driver for that, but your MP3 player might need a driver supplied by the maker. Check the make/model and visit their website for assistance if you haven't already.
