Unhappy emachine laptop 5310

emachine 5310

My problem is I had some overheating and my laptop would shut down - cleaned out cooling fan on heatsync and know everything runs real slow - sound is real gargled, and the whole system seems to be running like a 486 or slower. I've reinstalled all disc's and everything in the device manager, says it is working properly, yet its frustrating not to be able to find the problem.
I've noticed on ebay that there are alot of other people with this type of problem (overheating and then something doesn't work) any ideas or should I invest in a Dell
