SOUND - can anyone pls help me

hey can anyone help - I reinstalled my windows xp and now i have no sound.

I downloaded all the updates and have checked all sound settings. the sound card etc is all there - checked the speakers alls pluged in - but when i go to sound settings the screen is greyed out.

I did the belarc thing and this is what it says

can't see any entry for your sound-card in the belarc listing, which suggests the sound drivers are missing. 'Unimodem half-duplex audio device' refers to your speakerphone modem, not the sound card). You need to install drivers for the sound card or integrated sound-chip.

If your sound chip is built-in your motherboard, make sure that it's enabled in your BIOS.

How do you make sure it is enabled in your BIOS??
