just moved everything from the store bought emachines case to a different case and now i get no audio whatsoever, the only thing that is changed is there is no longer front ports for headphones/microphone and therefore the jumpers that were connected are not. i wouldn't think this would be the issue but i don't know, and i've updated drivers and everything and nothing seems to work. also, in the device manager it says that everything is working properly. i also did a system restore to a few days before and still no luck. sound was working earlier today when i had everything in the original case as well.

You all are forgetting one of the golden rules of this forum -- don't jump in to an existing thread with another problem, even if it seems to be related to the original poster's problem. The remedy for similar problems is nearly always different for each person and it can get very confusing, especially for the OP. Please start a new thread for each new problem. I,m surprised a mod hasn't pointed this out.
