First i tried what you told me, but didn't work.

I was running out of hope and decided to try with SP2, and after that i did what you told and guess what, it worked! So it was all about the SP2.

So thanks a lot for the help Barbara, keep up the good work.

Thanks for your support...

This is a shot in the dark, all sites are in Japaneze, but it appears that the Portage range have similar boards.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

then go here to Toshiba http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...sp?soid=553454

and try this audio driver

Hope this helps

Dell don't offer the onboard audio driver for XP but they do for Win2000
from what I can see, it works on XP as well. Go here http://support.euro.dell.com/support...s=WNT5&osl=EN#

it's SigmaTEL STAC 9700 AC'97

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Look at this
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

It's not giveing the motherboard get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

post the My Computer/Summary section I'll look tomorrow

Hope this helps

Thumbs up AC'97 82801BA/BAM sound card problems

Hello everybody!

Do not let yourselves fool or be bored with scientific-like solutions for the sound problem. It is not needed to register for different download sites or pay anything for anybody.

Just simply dowload the below update for your XP, which will put netapi32.dll (version 14.07.2006) file into your system32 directory and your Generic Host… blabla problem will be solved! Do not care about that this update originally intented to solve other type of problems too!

Link to the update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

name of the update file: WindowsXP-KB921883-x86-ENU.exe

Good Luck!!

Sound Problem

I've not been able to find an answer to this problem anywhere, so I'm hoping this is the place!
My audio seems to stutter or rather make this firegun noise every few seconds. Sometimes it happens more frequently than others.
Also, the mouse seems to "stutter" with it, and even when no music is playing the mouse will still stutter sometimes.I've checked the task manager and there's no program that indicates it's causing this.
Also this happens even before Windows XP fully enters into the desktop so I think it might be an actual problem with the sound card.
Is that possible and how do I fix this?

System: WinXPsp2
