Check this out first

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Go to Asus and under Others you will find the chipset. Intel Software Installation Utility, install then RESTART your comp, then install the audio driver again http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

sorry, still the same problems...

sound/audio properties say that there isn't any audio/playback devices...

i've tried what you said but still nothing...

well, the driver's installed but it has the yellow exclamation point beside it...

i've tried using the cd that came along w/ the mobo, tried DL-ing them (just to make sure they were in their newest versions)

Hi Barbara,

Looks like you are the one who has all the answers. I know you have solved similar problems before with sound drivers, please help me out here. I loaded XP SP2 on my computer and i am having problem with sound driver and a message which says " Device cannot start code(10) ". I have tried updating chipset and sound drivers, but of no help. You have a Tiga 810 1.0 motherboard, Iv'e found the motherboard, but as you can see there are different versions, and they go on size, I'm not sure but I think yours could be the baby.

ATX will be a tall tower, Micro is medium and Baby the smallerest, and as they offer different drivers for each board it'a a bit hit and miss. I'd try the Soundmax first.

Here's the link http://www.tigatech.com/tiga/download/driver/winxp.htm

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
