Check this
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

I can't find this Vaio as all the sites are in Japeneze,it seems the audio is provided by XP,but update the Chipset

go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

your chipset is the 855GME

download and install No:3 INF Update Utility then RESTART your comp

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

where can i find the driver to download for this?

Also there's a question mark for scsi/raid host controller as well.
Under the scsi and raid controllers tab, it lists two instances of LSI Logic 53C1010-66 Device, one set for function 0 and one for function 1. But there's also a tab for scsi/raid host controller that has an exclamation point on it, and when I look it up is unknown.

Thanks for all the help!

This is the link to your HP X4000 workstation drivers http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...&swEnvOID=1093

the audio is listed

as for the raid driver, on that I am not sure, but I also do not have raid installed on my comp, and have the same warning you have, I was adviced not to install raid drivers by my techi friend, don't know the reason but it has caused me no problems up to now.

Go here to Dell
http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&os=WW1&osl=EN
get Chipset driver > Intel Software Installation Utility > install then RESTART your comp, this installs the INF files to target system

Then install audio again

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING EACH DRIVER JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps
