I hope I've found the right place. Both Dell and Microsoft say they cannot help me. I went through a Lightning storm about a week ago and needless to say the PC crashed. Have been working on it constantly and have brought it back up to standards but there is NO SOUND as usual. Have seen all my problems here so decided to join. While I have downloaded Belarc (and thank you) and fixed many problems, sound remains a mystery. "Modem #0 Line Playback" everywhere. Media Player: OxCOOD11BA Cannot play File" and Napster will not even download correctly at all. Here is what I have:

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 build 2600
Processor2 2,67 gig Intel Pentium D
ST380810AS Hard Drive
Board: Dell Inc. 0HJ054
Serial # CN6986167H21D2
Unimodem Half-duplex Audio Device

I have downloaded 3 drivers on advice and none of them have worked to bring the sound back. Please help. Thank you.

Hello, Very Brainy Lady and thank you

My Service Tag is 2S7TXB1. I don't know if I need the Intel controller or if my sound card fried from the Lightning storm as "everyone" has had me download about 5 of them so far and nothing has changed. Thank you very much in advance no matter what. Dav

it's not giving the make, model or the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right lick mouse - select Copy.

Thse are the drivers for your T43 2668 model, there are 2 video drivers ATI and Intel, report not showing which one you have
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-58597

Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy.
it should show which video you have installed

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
