well, i have the same problem with the "Intel (r) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller".

i have a ac'97 .INF file but it won't install, i right click then choose install, but it won't instal. i am using Compaq Presario and Windows XP professional sp2 version 2002.

please help me out with my sound card problem...

Hi.

I've just switched from apple macs and am having trouble with the sound. I can't get any sound from any program. My used PC was upgraded by the seller to XP Pro sevice pack 2. I've tried upgrading drivers for sound from a windows prompt but still no sound at all. I'm new to PCs but am able to tell that everything is enabled and switched on. I don't know exactly what info anyone needs in order to help but I've got these details.

Hi all this is wired i have the same damn problem butt it was ocwared. i just revived my sub from my friend and i set up my pc to plug it in. btw my pc is a Alienware Aurora m7700 Laptop Gaming Athlon AMD 64 same audio realtex. to finish my story when i pluged in my woffer to the mic port ware i set up realtex sound master so i can plug in woofer it worked grate for like half a movie. (live free or die hard) i was like 1 hour into the movie when my shound totaly fucked me over it was high pitched and i could have swarn i hered alvin and his bros in my pc... i called a pc shop and thay said it would be about 60 - 100$ to try and fix it. well no job kinda makes it non afordable. can u plz help if so plz point me into the right direction thx.
