I'm not sure, maybe the onboard sound is bad, a sound card may work.

I'm stumped on this one, I'm sorry, the only thing I can think of, is if your firewall or antivirus are causeing a problem installing. If you turn off antivirus and the firewall, you will need to disconnect your internet before installing and then turn them on again before useing the internet.

I am also having problems with the Intel(R) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller I can get sound but, the voices sound like they are sucking on helium balloons. I can't use the advanced option to adjust the tenor and bass. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
I would really appreciate the help.
I am wondering if I updated the driver if it would work then?

thanks in advance

this is how

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Thanks for your help. Do you think the onboard sound component on the mobo is bad? Would a sound card solve the problem?
