cd-writer/dvd-rom combo problems

My computer won't read any kind of disc. It worked just fine, then just quit. Don't understand it. I put in a game disc and it says insert disc and try again. I put in a music cd and it does nothing. I opened my Windows Media Player and it says "No Disc in Drive(E:)". Can someone help me with this?

CD-RW/DVD-ROM Problem

1. Go to Device Manager (My Computer > Control Panel > System, Hardware tab and click Device Manager)
2. Uninstall the device under DVD/CD-ROM Drives (via clicking the plus)
3. Uninstall the Secondary IDE Channel under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
4. Restart your system

Hopefully this will work, it's the advice i usually get from professionals.
