Question Win 2000 Pro drivers for Asus board

I've been following your thread(s) on this subject, and I was quite impressed with your expertise.

I've upgraded an HP 8860 with a new hard drive onto which I've installed Windows 2000 Pro (SP 4). The Device Manager informed me that I needed the "Multimedia Audio Controller" (on-board audio) drivers. I hope the following Belarc info is sufficient:

System Model: 00101730 8860 15294100000535 30
System Serial Number: 2408HPPAV3
Processor: 1000 megahertz AMD Athlon
Mother board: Asus A7V-VM 1.02
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD 2.04 12/07/00

BTW, neither the Windows Deivice Manager nor Belarc can identify the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" (modem) which is installed.

I'm donating this PC to a loacal day care center, and would appreciate your helping me locate the missing drivers.

Thanks.

Thanks.

But I've already gone to the site, but I don't know what kind of audio chipset I have on the Asus motherboard.

I downloaded a generic driver fix called "audiomodemcombo" which I unzipped, but the drivers won't work on the modem.

Actually, I really need the AUDIO drivers much more than those for the modem.

HELP!!!

ACCORDING TO A POST BY "BARBARA" in this forum, the Asus motherboard in the HP 8860 needs the AC/97v2.1 audio driver. None of the HP drivers listed match that.

I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the AC/97 v 3.77 for win 2K. Maybe that will work.
