I've had my sidewinder for quite some time now. It worked fine until the wonderful windowsXP got itself corrupted through all the patching and updates, had to re-format my drives, lost all the software that WORKED BEFORE, Imagine my surprise when I Tried to download an updated version for my gamepad, and it tells me it no longer supports XP (thier newest OS, but supports the older OS systems???? Two words sum this up Corperate Greed, Trust me if my favorite stuff worked outside windows, I wouldn't bother putting any more money into gate's pockets.

Did I mention older Microsoft controllers (that are off the market) work on XP fine.. :-/

To put everyone's mind at ease, turns out this one is a hardware problem. There is something "loose" in the controller, but I can't exactly figure out what. It's not something that wiggles or jingles when you shake it, but I know it has something to do with the problem. I opened the controller and while plugged into the USB, tapped random dohickies with a philips head.. a few times I would get a reaction but then it would disappear again. But then one time I tapped some random cylinder (i should have paid more attention in my telecommunications class) and I got it work and so far, stay working. Even when I unplug it. Now I feel I have to hold it jingerly.. I admit, it has endured some shock (no fault of mine) so that's probably what has to happen now.. It needs to be babied. lol

Thanks for all your help Barbara but this one is finally determined not software related.
