Hi there! After reformatting my Vaio and installation of WinXP Pro using the Sony recovery cd, I have no sound... I have installed all the drivers for my model PCG_GRT996VP from http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downl...voe_en_GB_cons including the Sigmatel audio driver and in device manager I get "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" when I click " SigmaTel C-Major Audio" under Sound, Video and game controllers.

tried other Sony sites, but it says model available on Sony Japan site.

What you need to install first is the Sony Utilities then RESTART your comp, these have the Chipset and Sony Shared Library these are the INF files. Install this then the audio again

Hope this helps

Arrow Sound Card Driver Issue

Hi There,

I'm working on my parents computer which was updgraded from Windows 98 to 2000 a little while back and the sound stopped working. In device manager there is a yellow questions mark under Other Devices - Multimedia Audio Controller. I'm guessing from other users experiences that there is an onboard sound card, but I don't know how to check/find the right driver.

Belarc Report is:

However what you suggested did not work for me , do you have any further suggestions I could try?

I have a sound problem too with my new Computer. The sound card by Realtek is integrated into the Fox Conn mobo. My old computer came bundled with Boston Digital speakers and a Creative sb card.

I get no sound from the new computer, not even a computer beep or any other noises, just dead silence).

I suspect that the REaltek soundcard does not have an option for digital / analog which was in the advanced portion of the Volume Control.

Is there some way to enable digital output with the realtek onboard sound card? Thanks Monica

Check this out

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Cheers

email sound loss

i use incredimail and find that i cannot send the variety of sounds that are in my style box. I have sound in everything on my compter - even when incredimail opens i have the welcome sound. So obviously the sound check on my system says all is working. But it is not. i tried a simple system restore in my XP - but it would not let me. The one thing i did - yesterday - when all worked fine - was delete from my computer the 685mb folder that contained everything in Games Room. Was there something in there that now restricts my email sound - it did warn me that some applications might not work if i deleted this folder. but i never play games so i went ahead and did it. As i say - every sound i need - warning sounds -alerts - winks in messenger - all function. Just nothing in my email sound. Help please !!
