thank you for your help.
i already tried to install that driver. each time i tried in the middle of the instalation the computer get really slow. and if i leave it for 6 hours it finished and when i do restart i see black screen with a mouse. each time i had to restore my computer back. i just dowloaded it to my desktop and then extract it with the windows extract option.
you think that i should try it again and this time just extract it with winrar?

I think you need to check if audio is Enabled in the BIOS, you can only use the keyboard to navigate, the arrow keys for direction and the + or - key to change.

To enter Bios Setup, press Del key as comp boots up,

Main menu opens http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...ios%20Main.JPG

use arrow key to go to Advanced menu - press Enter http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20Advanced.JPG

use arrow key to go to Chipset - Press Enter http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20Chipset.JPG

use arrow key to go to Southbridge SiS964 Configuration - press Enter http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...outhbridge.JPG

Onboard AC'97 should show [Enabled] if not use arrow key to select - then press + or - ( numeric pad ) key to change

Press F10 key to Exit a & Save changes

Write down where you go and what you do, print this off so you can follow

i installed the drivers according to your directions and the same thing that happened to me before happened to me now.
in the middle of the instalation at the last file the computer gets really slow and it take him a few hours to finish the instalation and i had to push the reset button because the computer almost stop working. i tried install it from the safe mode and when it finish and i do restart the computer stuck in a black screen with a mouse and windows is not loading. i waited for more than a hour and nothing change so i had to restore my computer to an earlier time.

about the bios i checked it according to what you direct and its on enable.
i really dont know what to do.....

get this program from SiS it will show all SiS components on your board, and give links to download. The chipset driver is the most important one. Accept th ActiveX it is safe I've used it myself.

Check this out

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot.

Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

You will need your Win XP disc for this

Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.

Can you hunt over the comp for a label that will give the make and model. Also Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus
