Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Hi, this is my system information.
After recovering windows xp i lost all sound, except system sounds (the annoying bleeps).
Looking under control panel-->sounds and audio devices, there apparently is no audio device on this computer or playback device. Also i am getting no conflict in device manager, although the location of all my codecs are "unknown" i hope you can help, thank you!!

It's not showing the make or model or the motherboard, is this a Belarc or Everest report either should give the info I need.
Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
if you used Belarc get Everest or visa versa

Check this out, you sometimes have to tell XP to use the driver, see if Realtek is an option
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Check this out
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot.
