Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates

It is an expansion slot. I dont know why but but simply unplugging the sound system then plugging it back in has made the PC 'think' the sound is back on! the wonders of technology!

I just built my new computer yesterday, everything is working fine, but I can't get any kind of sound out of it, if I try to go to the volume control in "Accessories" I'm told I don't have a sound mixer, in Devices, I have a yellow exclmation mark next to "MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device" and "ES1688 AudioDrive (WDM)" and also "PCI Device", although "PCI Device"'s logo isn't the speaker, so I don't think that's related.

PS: I have tried both AC 97 and HDA, I'm willing to use either if it will get me my sound.
