This is the Acer drivers for your Aspire 1640z http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...40z_1650z.html

now this system is new and the printout is showing that you have High Definition audio, but I don't recognise the Realtek driver version as High Definition on the Acer site. I an searching Acer Europe, Middle East and Africa site, where was the notebook purchased as it could have a different audio to the one listed.

If you decide to try this driver Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

This is the link to youe Asus P5RD1-VM motherboard http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

Onboard sound needs to be Disabled in the BIOS if useing a sound card, also on new installation updateing the Chipset sometime needs to be done also. On the Asus site under others you will find the Chipset driver. Install and if need be install the sound card driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps
