go here to Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

under Utilities install the Nvidia chipset drivers- then RESTART your comp

install audio drivers again

don't forget the Restore Point

I completely uninstalled my audio driver and used Window's "Scan for New Hardware" utility. I let it auto-check for drivers and it found one that works. I'm not sure why it worked this time but im glad it did. Thanks for all the help troubleshooting.

not showing motherboard, just the chipset , Get Everest / copy and paste the Computer – Summary section. Leave out the Debug –PCI section.

look for a label on the comp, any serial number shown, need the motherboard, but Belarc will read the info from the HD, which will show different info, get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code, but it may show info from your sisters comp

No Sound after format

Hi folks

Recently had my PC formatted but it came back with no sound!
Device Manager has a yellow "!" beside "PCI Modem" with error message -
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."
Also a yellow "!" beside "C-Media AC97 Audio Device" with error message -
"This device cannot start. (Code 10). Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
Tried to update them and also to un-install then re-install but no joy.
Ran a 'Everest' report which said I had a 'SIS7012' sound card and linked me to a website to download the appropriate driver.

I did this but it still didnt work.

Windows automatic updates has put "C-Media AC97 Audio Device" back into Device Manager but it still has a yellow "!".

I am running Windows Xp. Everest report below -
