Already tried that driver and it didn't work. I have the motherboard cd and there are 2 drivers a c-media and a realtek driver.
The c-media(like all other c-media drivers) sais that i don't have that kind of soud card, and the realtek installs but still no sound.
Sound card is enabled in bios and windows sound service is running.
In device manager there is no sound card and no question mark or like that.

go to ASRock site and install the INF driver - then RESTART your comp, then install the C-Media driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing EACH driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

check this to see if Realtek is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if it is and still no sound go back to ASRock link

install the INF driver - then RESTART your copm

then install C-Media audio driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case

your report shows a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card is installed the driver is here at Creative

check this to see if Sound Blaster is the default audio device
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

your audio plugs must be in an Expansion slot for this driver to work

I hope this thread is still active. I'm having the same problems. I had to reformat after a nasty attack, and for some reason it reformatted in NTFS format? I was is FAT-32. I disabled on-board audio VIA BIOS, but no sound still. When I go to check the default audio, all playback boxes are shaded out, and unclickable. And it say that my Legacy Audio/Video drivers are working fine, but the location is 'Unknown'. Here's my specs:

Are you’re audio plugs on the I/O plate or in an Expansion slot – see here – click image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

I/O plate - Realtek audio in link below
Expansion slot - need to know the sound card

http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=d...=1&prod_no=601

you need to [Enable] audio in the BIOS and then install this driver

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Hello

Few days ago I changed hard disk and reinstalled Windows, but now I can't get sound to work...I tried some drivers but nothing seems to work
Also, when I opened the case I could locate two chipsets (?), on one it says RLT8100C and on the other it8712F-A.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
