Hi, bookworm. Thanks, but I had already installed that driver before. To save face I did it again, following your instructions, but to no avail. If you're ever up for a remote just msg me, as to I just have no clue what the problem is. My tech buddies say the sound card is shot, yet, the user of this laptop brought it to a tech and said the guy found the issue (previously, before reformat) in about an hour, he said, "it was located somewhere else". I think the guy was just feeding him bs.

Realtek audio driver here at MSI http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=d...1&prod_no=1472
Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

check this to see if Realtek is default driver
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device
if not see if Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture is installed
Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager
System Devices / Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture should be installed
if not try this driver from realtek
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Need more info, make ,model or motherboard if not sure get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code

Sound Problem After Reformat
After wiping and reformatting my computer once I had no sound and no idea what my sound card drivers were, I ended up downloading Realtek audio drivers and my sound worked fine. There was one problem though, whenever I were to talk on Ventrilo or any other speech program with my friends they would get extreme feedback when I talked (they cannot talk at all really when I talk without hearing themselves twice as loud back at them hah) and could hear any sounds such as music if I were playing it on my computer pretty loudly and clearly, even though I use a headset. This was never a problem before the reformatting. To this day this problem still exists, and for the most part we just deal with it. For a long time just I assumed that it was a problem with my soundcard. Although just recently after looking I'm pretty sure I have integrated sound on my motherboard I'm guessing? I'm not really sure how that works. I've recently only recently really looked and can't see one.
Now my friend has the exact same computer as me (we bought the same one online) except a graphics card difference, I recently replaced my Geforce 8400 GS with a Geforce 9600 GSO and my 300 watt power supply with a 500 watt power supply. Now, just yesterday (more like 6 or 7 hours ago), I helped him reformat his computer, and when it came to install sound drivers I helped him to install Realtek audio drivers, he had sound and we got everything else running just fine as well.
Okay here's the weird part, later when we went to talk on Xfire chat with me, guess what!? He now has the exact same feedback problems as me. So now I'm thinking that I perhaps downloaded the incorrect sound drivers, although it's strange we are getting sound just fine, but it's really a huge pain to use any voice chat programs without this very annoying feedback problem (Skype isn't even an option really hah, even with a push to talk addon). Another thing that sucks is neither of us can remember if whether or not we had been using Realtek audio before reformatting. So I'm just hoping someone (most likely bookworm, you seem to have been very helpful to fixing everyone's sound problems!) may be able to help me! Here is my info.

this audio driver needs the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture installed to work correctly
Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager
System Devices / Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture should be installed
I'm presuming it's a HP/Compac if the Microsoft UAA is missing install from here - then Restart your comp and if needed install audio again
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN
you can also check Windows audio service
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot
Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

I should mention that when I installed it it said it already existed, I went ahead and reinstalled it though but it didn't affect the problem.
