multimedia sound problem

I have the same problem as others have described, I have just formatted my computer and reinstalled windows xp. I now have no sound. It does not even recognise a sound device when I try to install new hardware I have a yello question mark with multimedia audio controller and one beside multimedia video controller. I have cut and pasted all the info from Belarc about my computer. I have formatted and reinstalled windows several times in the past and never had this problem before. I will be very gratefull for some assistance.

Asrock will be your motherboard, vivaStar may be the maker, to be sure download Belarc Advisor ( Free) http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
and just copy and paste it into your post.

Hope this helps

Your sound driver is an AC'97 get it here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

it is an exe. file, so download and save to desktop, then just double click on the file, it will install itself.

Set a System Restore Point just in case before you install

Hope this helps

Start / All programes / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore /click radio button Create a Restore Point / Next / give it a name eg: before sound driver / Create / the Restore Point Created box appears / Close.

All 3 sites will download the same file, just choose one of them. This is a very popular sound driver and one site would not be enough to cope with demand.

Hope this helps
