Hi Wiz, go to the above website, which has all the drivers that are related to your motherbaord.

This copy of Windows is not genuine, try this:

http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/window...ine-how-to-fix

I don't know if the above is illegal, but it's basically a tweak for the error message.

Hi I just bought a computer from an acquaintance, unfortunately he did not have the mobo and gfx driver cds so I was hoping for some assistance, when I attempt to open Winamp and play something, it says "Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration" while when I open Sound Recorder it says "Sound Recorder cannot record or play back because a sound evice is not installed. To install a sound device, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware"

I have gone to the link mentioned above "http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=948&OSF ullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=4 4&submit=Go%21"
to download the drivers, but when I attempt to install the Audio: ADI* 1985 Driver, it fails during installation of SoundMAX saying "driver not found! Reboot your system, and run this setup again." I am rather uncertain as to what to do. Below is the everest report of the pc

It looks as if you have a sound card installed, do you plug your speakers into the I/O plate or an expansion slot see here http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

I had all the same shit as most of you guys.

After re-formatting and re-installing windows you need to UPDATE, UPDATE your pc. get your Realtek AC97 update from windows.

Go into device manager and update drivers on troubled media devices.

If you still have CODE 10 problems its cause windows doesnt have the correct driver for you audio device Thanks Realtek.

I know I know its a AC97, im telling you that you need system info software(i use Unknown Device Indentifier 5.02) and if you have CODE 10 im betting you have Audio SIS7012.

Ill bet my life that Windows is giving you SIS7018, completly different hence the CODE 10

Search SIS7012 driver and happy listening.

OH BTW you still need AC97 audio device installed, unless you dont wanna listen to youtube, myspace etc etc. Dont ask me why but the internet needs ac97 driver and mediaplayer, vcl etc etc need SIS7012.

I hope it helps someone

Steve

Have the same code 10 error - have tried uninstalling/reinstalling realtek ac97 driver a few times, still get the same error and complete lack of sound whether thru internal speakers or headphones. Does i need a new sound card or is there a download that anyone can suggest to help fix it? Am getting desperate!

Can you check these

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.
