Having problem with certain drivers

Alright, here's my problem. My computer just shuts down whenever it wants. Then when it starts up again I get this Device Driver Error, so i send in a report and there's no answer for the problem.

Every once in a while my computer shuts down but I get this Blue screen (Not a B.S.O.D) telling me to uninstall troubled hardware.
So then I brought my computer in cause I couldn't find the answer. I get my computer back and the problem is still there (all they did was update my BIOS) 'cause I thought I had a memory problem... apparently this update fixes the timing.

But now Im told by my friend that I probably have a problem with my Graphics Card. (ATI Radeon 9000 pro 128mb)..

Now Im wondering if there's new drivers that will fix this problem.

Or if it has nothing to do with my Graphics card whatsoever... could someone please tell me..

Thank you if you respond.

10fx, you need to start from scratch with this one ...

Which Operating System are you using?

What are the actual 'Error Messages'?

What is your system hardware spec?

Check your system for malicious code using an up to date Anti Virus program.

Check your system for spyware and adware using a checker such as Spybot.

Remove unwanted files and applications by running Disk Cleanup.

Check your Hard Disk for errors using Check Disk.

Defrag your Hard Drive

Download and install the latest drivers for your system video and sound cards.

1. XP (now Ive heard that some ATI hardware isn't compatible for XP)

2. Have to get back to you on that one (have to wait for it to happen again, and then write it down)

Something to do with a non page default error.. Ill get back to you later on in the day.

3. GC: ATI Radeon 9000 pro 128mb
Memory: 1 gig
MOBO: Asus A78NX w/onboard sound
CPU: AMD 2500+
HD: 80 gigs

4. Do it on a regular basis

5. Do it on a regular basis

6. Do it on a regular basis

7. Do it on a regular basis

8. Do it on a regular basis

9. I believe I have all the latest drivers (if you noticed I asked if there was a new driver for 9000 Pro... so Im not sure on that one)

You need to check in your display properties for your Driver Version then check the Internet for later version drivers.

XP is a version of NT.

Anyways, go to the search tab at the top of the screen and do a forum search of your problem.

The problem has been covered on here before.

Alright went through all the threads that had somewhat of the same problem. Found a memory tester, so I'm going to go through that. Hopefully that's it because it's what I had thought from the beginning!!! Gawd... the computer techs at my comp store would have a field day when I tell them that I was right from the beginning...

hehe... alright.. ill do the test and then post again

thanks

you have a motherboard with a nvidia chipset, and you are using a radeon video card, i have seen this trouble at several forums with the same board, i bought a radeon 9000 when i built the pc i am on now, it ran fine with 98/ME installed but would not run 2k or xp, and if i got the os to install i got the same blue screen, i bought a nvidia ge force 5200 128 ddr and the problem disapeared, my wife really likes the radeon on her intel chipset though. so she got a upgrade too.

I was thinking about buying a Radeon 9800 All in Wonder. Would you think that it would have the same problem as the 9000?

i really cant say, you can try, but keep the sales ticket and buy from a retailer that does not mind exchanging. i would assume in time patches will be out, either motherboard bios, or radeon drivers that will fix this. i was fully ticked off when i couldnt use the radeon on mine, this has been about three months and i still do not see any driver, or bios updates for the one i have, which i am almost happy with my nvidia card, but the nvidia chipset is great, seems a bit faster, and more stable then the via chips i have had in the past.
