Exclamation Please help. Realtek AC97 Audio Driver Issues - Sound Issues - Help please.

So i just built this new computer, its pretty sweet.

3.6 ghz ASUS P5ND2-SLI Delux edition
2 gig ram
and Sicuro gaming techno speakers

anyways i installed the motherboard CD and all of the neccesary drivers including Realtek Audio AC97 driver. now when i first started up the computer, system sounds worked. i repeat they worked. and continue to work at a constant rate of no problems. HOWEVER. that is not the issue in entirity. My sound drivers do not read, stating there are mixer issues or lack of mixxers being the issue. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and it fixed the problem. however this was only a temporary fix, because when the computer restarted at some point. The issue reappeared. So i dont have working sound for Video Games, Audio files such as MP3's or Aol Instant Messenger. the system sounds still work though.

I mean i guess i can spend the rest of my life just uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but id rather find out a way to make it a permanent fix.

i installed service pack for Windows XP, and currently about to reinstall the sound drivers once again.

If anyone has any useful information to put forth. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Acording to ASUS the sound is a Realtek ALC850, a new driver just realeased, go here to get updated driver http://w3serv.realtek.com.tw/downloa...&Software=True

Hope this helps

ok. i can solve ur problem through the mail itself.
1. ur installing the sound driver by the way of my compurter right click properties hardware click on device manager sound device right click properties & then ur clicking on upinstall.
2. normally on ur pc then put the cd into the cd driver its automaticaly run there is one option called dirver click on that in that sound driver is there u can install that driver.
This is the 2 types of installing the driver. u can try it first otherwise i will tell u next setp.

same problem

I have the same problems with basically the same setup and have installed the new drivers. I just have to keep reinstalling them. After that everything works for about a week. Then I get startup errors and sound driver problems. Does the person who started this thread play battlefield 2? I just wondered if that might have anything to do with it.

Sorry to sort of hijack the thread, just thought it might help if someone else had similar problems.
