It's a Dell with a SiS board/chipset by the looks, probably some generic SiS controller, funny that it's not listed as such in Belarc.

If you right click the My computer icon on the desktop or in the start menu and click on properties, go to the hardware tab and click device manager you should be able to see if your soundcard has issues. If sound just stopped working, right click the sound device on the list and select uninstall. a reboot after the process is finished should correct the problem. If you had to format, reinstall, or have just upgraded to XP you will need to install the driver.

We have just reformatted the computer and the sound hasnt been working since then. I do not know what kind of computer it is....nor do I know what type of sound card I have. I just know that there is no audio device installed, and I do not know which one I am needing to install.

Your board is an Elite Systems ECS K7SEM with SiS 7018 Codec Sound Driver

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case

Then go here to ECS http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=35&LanID=9

Download SiS 7018 Codec Sound Driver for Win XP, when asked Save to your Desktop, close all open programes and then go to Desktop and double click and follow instructions to install the file.

Hope this helps

the link doesnt work. I tried looking for it on the website and downloaded what i thought was it. I unzipped the folder, but after 3 little folders came up. I opened the one that says windows xp, but there is nothing that says install. I double clicked on all the icons in the windows xp folder, but none of them were the install button.
