Program to list drivers needed?

Is there a free or cheap program to use, that will search the hard ware and give you a list of the item, manufacturer and driver needed?

I found one then it wanted $30 to sign up and down load them.

We are talking like a totally wiped computer and trying to get the drivers for all devices, with out knowing what to get.

Thanks in advance.

Software isn't going to work if there is no operating system, what os are you going to install? Also what is the m/board?

If you do have an operating system then PC Wizard or Belarc will list your components then you have to go to manufacturers websites to look for drivers

Sorry this was a general post. I was redoing a Dell Laptop, whose hard drive crashed. Ohh yea, tech support was a real help I finally got an OS cd from them, but not the revovery one with the correct drivers, but not all the drivers loaded. They sent me a Windows XP sp2, it is up an running, but several items , even with the support drivers will not load. I was looking for a program that would tell the installer what the hardware is, so we can get the correct drivers.

Thanks for the assistance

Thank you bookworm, I will give it a try. I looked at the Everest site and they do have a trial version. Some what highly rated on C-Net. Ran it on my home system listed everything pretty good. But I have been reading the posts here and from what I see I trust your advise. Thanks again.
