Help w/ Sound on Intel Laptop.

All of a sudden my sound is gone. I try to adjust the volume and I get an error message that says:

"There are no Active Mixer Devices Available. To Install Mixer Devices, go to Control Panel, Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then Click Add Hardware. This Program will now Close."

I go to Add Hardware, but it says that all my sound devices are working fine. Is there anyway to fix this, and what exactly is wrong w/ my computer? I've been having a lot of trouble w/ this Intel .
