Switched motherboards- no sound, no driver- help needed

ANY help at all is welcome, even if to tell me "give up and go home"

I recently switched motherboards with a friend's old computer. After I did so, nearly all drivers auto-installed except for the sound driver. This is an interesting situation because I swapped motherboards, I didn't reinstall Windows XP, nor am I able at this time.

Dell.com specifies this is the driver I need:
here

I tried installing it but I ran into a strange situation much like this fellow: here Except I don't have an HP computer (see info below)

I went to majorgeeks.com and download a program here that told me that

"Chip: Intel Corporation 82801DB AC'97 Audio Controller (ICH4 A1 step)"

is my audio controller.

Now, I still hear beeps, which tells me that there is some sort of speaker active. My friend assures me that there is and onboard sound card.

In system setup, the sound card is turned ON.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Belarc info below: (first time posting, any info you need- feel free to ask)

I tried to install Dell's sound driver but the same thing happened to me as the person who is in this post: here

"Driver not found. Reboot your system and run this setup again."

The driver won't install.

I'm not planning on reinstalling Windows XP considering the sound drive was the only thing I've been having problems with out of about 20 hardware drivers that popped up and were automatically installed.

I try to keep a few gigs free on my HD.

I can't find any "website update" for the sound card on my motherboard. The problem is that nothing will recognize that the driver exists. Yet it does, it says so clearly in the System settings before booting the HD. Integrated Sound is ON.

My graphics card is working fine, and aside from the Sound, it's all at 100% capacity I'm a teen, so I know this fact thoroughly. I've all ready been playing all the games I possibly can.

I updated the drivers for everything I could, only sound does not/cannot update.

I tried installing the motherboard chipset from dell, as someone recommended, but that had no effect.
